When I first began doing research into registry cleaning programs, I came across some information that led me to believe that these programs were unsafe and could actually harm your computer. Indeed some stories were so horrific that for a while I was reluctant to try this type of software at all. But as my computer got slower and slower I eventually revisited the issue, this time digging even deeper to get to the cause of the concerns people had.
It is true that when registry cleaning programs first came out there were issues. Sometimes they deleted needed .dll files which caused programs to error or even stop working at all There were also reports of registry defrag functions causing complete system crashes and horror stories of data and productivity being lost while trying to get things back online.
When you read these reports though, look at the dates.What you will find in virtually all cases is that these problems occurred several years ago with older versions of software.
Reputable companies would never want to put out faulty software, and so of course they have upgraded over the years making their software SAFE as well as more comprehensive, useful and user friendly.Also today's registry cleaning software almost universally includes a registry back up as part of its scan/repair process so that in the unlikely event you do experience problems; it's easy to restore the old registry.
Personally I have been using registry cleaning software for several years now with excellent results.I hate to see it get a bad rap because of problems with early versions.
